James Gunn’s superpower is canceling already announced DC films

U James GunnAs the architect of the new DC Cinematic Universe, it turns out he has an interesting set of tools. For example, according to him, announcing a project does not automatically mean it will be completed. Therefore, you can announce the film, dig around for a while, and in the end give it up altogether, as if it were not your destiny.

Gunn writes on your social network:

To avoid misunderstandings, everything that was announced earlier is still in development, but this does not guarantee that everything will appear on screen. Everything will depend on the scenarios! We will never put raw material into production simply because of an announcement.

Probably, of course, it’s better this way than stopping filming halfway and hiding the result in a safe. Just like it happened with Batgirl.

The first chapter of the disish world, “Gods and Monsters”, includes the animated series “Monster Commando”, “Superman”, “Supergirl” and “Batman: The Brave and the Bold”. There was also an application for the full-length Swamp Thing, and just recently they announced a film about the villains Bane and Deathstroke, as well as a cartoon about a couple of Robins.

TV series “Green Lanterns” and “Paradise Lost” are also planned.

Superman, directed by Gunn, opens July 11, 2025. It’s too late to cancel.
