James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ continued to enjoy great success in cinemas even during the holiday season and should soon reach the first billion mark worldwide. According to current data, a gross profit of USD 955 million was realized up to and including Monday. About 30 percent of this is in the United States and about 70 percent in the rest of the world. The US service industry expects that the jump over one billion in Tuesday’s data, which is not yet available, should have already been achieved. In Germany, “Avatar: The Way of Water” has already reached more than three million viewers.

Update: Disney has now officially confirmed that ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ has already grossed over $1 billion within 14 days of its theatrical release. James Cameron’s second adventure on Pandora leaps to third place in the 2022 world film rankings behind “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jurassic World: A New Age” and is very likely to climb to second place in the coming days.

It is not yet clear when “Avatar: The Way of Water” will be released for home cinema on Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc. Until the movie hits theaters, it should be a while. While ‘Avatar’ was released on Blu-ray Disc on April 23, 2010, about four months after its theatrical release, there is still supposed to be pre-production for ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’. Disney+ before the film will also be released on Ultra HD Blu-ray and Blu-ray Disc.
