The 26-year-old landed in the free agent market after the Tampa Bay Buccaneers failed to renew his contract and brought Tom Brady to Florida. In 2019, Winston led the NFL with 5,109 yards thrown. However, his 33 touchdowns were also countered by 30 interceptions.
At the Saints, Winston is said to be competing with Taysom Hill for the backup role. Winston hopes to get his career started again in New Orleans, as his direct predecessor Teddy Bridgewater did. Bridgewater signed a three-year $ 63 million deal with the Carolina Panthers after two years behind Drew Brees.
Jameis Winston was hit with the first pick by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2015. In 72 games he threw for 19,737 yards and 121 touchdowns at 88 interceptions. He also ran for 1,044 yards and 10 touchdowns. In his rookie season, he was called to the Pro Bowl and won the Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Year award.
