Jambon (N-VA) announces relaxation of cultural sector: only one empty seat between spectators or bubbles in halls

Flemish Minister of Culture Jan Jambon (N-VA) has announced a relaxation of the corona measures in the cultural sector. From now on, halls will only have to leave one seat free between each bubble or present. In this way, the capacity in the halls could increase to 60 percent.

Brussels

During the last National Security Council it was decided to increase the maximum capacity for cultural activities to 200 attendees for indoor events and 400 people for outdoor events. The culture and events sector reacted displeased at the time and asked that the capacity of the venue be taken into account. The concept of relative occupancy rates seemed more logical to the sector and the Flemish government is now responding to this.

In the last week, the Flemish Minister of Culture Jan Jambon (N-VA), virologists and the Crisis Cell Culture have gathered their heads (figuratively) to develop a better framework for the rooms in which cultural events take place. They came to an agreement to implement a number of relaxation. From now on, halls no longer have to leave a line in between and only one seat between each spectator or bubble has to remain empty. The public will still have to wear a mouth mask.

(Ancienne Belgique is discontinuing collaboration with more than 200 external employees.)

Crisis cell satisfied

The Crisis Cell Culture responds positively to the news in the newspapers of De Persgroep: “This measure and the conditions formulated are workable for us. Moreover, they are a result of shorter lines between the sector, virologists and the minister. In this way we avoid confusion and measures are also carried out. In order to face this crisis, we have to tackle it like this from now on. ”

(The Roma will remain closed throughout 2020 in order to survive.)

Michael De Cock, a member of the crisis cell, writes “Haleluja” on Twitter.

Virologist Marc Van Ranst states that these new rules “will be more workable in the context of cultural halls”. He does point out that “proper ventilation, crowd management, face masks and hygiene measures remain equally important”.
