Jamal Murray, after the Denver Nuggets were just one step away from winning the NBA ring this Friday, assured that his team is ready in every way to win the first title for the franchise.
“We are prepared to win a championship. We have the tools to do it. It’s been on our minds for a while. We are plugged in. I don’t think you need to overthink it. We are connected and prepared to win, ”he said at a press conference.
The Nuggets were placed this Friday just one victory away from the first NBA ring in their history after beating the Heat again in Miami (95-108, 1-3 in the series).
Aaron Gordon (27 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists), Nikola Jokic (23 points and 12 rebounds), Jamal Murray (15 points and 12 assists) and Bruce Brown (21 points, 11 of them in the fourth quarter) were the most Highlights of some Nuggets that on Monday will have the option of closing the Finals in Denver.
Only in one of the 36 times that there was a 3-1 in the Finals was there a comeback from the team that was below, a feat signed by LeBron James’ Cleveland Cavaliers in 2016 against the Golden State Warriors.
Murray praised the entire team’s commitment in the fourth quarter, when Jokic took the bench with five fouls and the Heat fell within 5 points on an 8-0 run.
“If Jokic leaves, we have five other players on the court. If I go, the same. We are all playing for each other, ”he defended.
Although he did not have a good day in front of the basket (5 of 17), Murray excelled in directing the game with 12 assists and not a single turnover.
“Tonight I felt like I was being blitzed (pressured) on every block and roll, basically trying to limit my shot attempts and I wasn’t going to fight it,” he explained.
“We have a squad. We have a lot of players who can come in and impact the game, a lot of guys playing with confidence (…). I’m not in a team where I have to force him or have the ball too much. I will gladly release the ball if we win games that way, ”he said.
Among those teammates who shone with their own light in the fourth game, Gordon stood out.
“He’s like a dog. He is strong, physical, hard (…). And he is an altruistic player. He’s been solid in all these playoffs, all season and all the time he’s been in Denver. He has been great,” he opined.
