Jamal Adams spoke out when he was with the New York Jets.
The safety, which was traded to the Seattle Seahawks in July, revealed in the All Things Covered Podcast the New York Post: “I fought against depression.”
The 25-year-old added, “And I’m man enough to say that. I came home after a bad defeat and sat in my room in the dark – no cell phone, no TV. (My dad) hated me so much It knocked him out … He called my agent at the time and said, “Hey man, I don’t like seeing my son like this. I want him to get out of this situation.” It left its mark on my life outside of football. “
Adams alleges Jet’s lack of will to win
Background: Adams, who was drafted sixth by the Jets in 2017, always missed the playoffs in his three years with the Jets. During that time, the New York franchise won only 16 out of a possible 48 games.
That’s one of the reasons Adams said when asked about his ex-team: “They don’t want to win. Let’s be honest, the Jets were the laughing stock. (In Seattle) it’s how it should be in the NFL. This is the dream of me dreamed. “
Given the Jets’ current record, the Pro Bowler seems to have done everything right. The Jets are the only team in the league without a win (0: 9). The Seahawks are on the other hand with a 6: 3 balance on the playoff course.
Adams also revealed why he did not renew his contract with the Jets. “I told them, ‘Hey man, if you guys want to keep me to be a lifelong jet let’s sit down and talk.’ After they told me, ‘We want to offer you an extension.’ (…) I felt that I was being treated unfairly. “

“Money is a plus, but I love football. I love what I do. And I was sick of hearing about Rebuilding Year,” added Adams.
