Jaloux du Rochereau, ridden by Stéphane Landois, new French five-year-old champion

Olympic team vice-champion just a month ago, Stéphane Landois allowed Jaloux du Rochereau to win the title of French five-year-old champion, during the Grande Semaine de l’élevage de concours complet, organized in Pompadour (Corrèze), by the Société hippique française (SHF). In the six-year-old championship, Thomas Carlile put his two horses in the lead before the obstacle, this Sunday.

On the edge of the Jusseaux de Pompadour arena, Stéphane Landois had nothing left to do but wait. Fourth before the last act of the French Championship for young five-year-old eventing horses, with the stallion Jaloux du Rochereau (Balou du Rouet and Liberté de Reverdy by Quatoubet du Rouet), his clear round had already guaranteed a nice final place for his partner before the passage of his last three rivals.
Presented by Nicolas Touzaint, Joyau du Guerny (SF, Grafenstolz and Fidji du Guerny by Kannan) was the first to make a mistake. Same fate for Junior de la Mouline (SF, Unique Dido and Samba du Lattay by Joeris) with Cyril Gavrilovic. Last to start and still in pole position, Clara Loiseau, on Jackson de Bellenoue (SF, Diabeau and Demeter du Figuier by Numero Uno) was therefore the only one who could still win. But she too was surprised at the start of the race and offered victory to Jaloux du Rochereau who thus succeeds I am du Loir, crowned last year with Thomas Carlile.
No explosion of joy for the discreet winner but a great satisfaction.I have good horses, I have to take advantage of themhe rejoices. Bringing a horse here to the title of French champion is the culmination of the training. It proves that we do things well with young horses.” After several rankings including a third place in six years last year with Hermès du Gevaudan, the thirty-year-old rider finally had the honour of launching the lap of honour with this horse that he has been riding for a little less than a year.I knew his breeder Anthony Morand because I had bought another horse from him a few years ago.he explains. Last year, I was looking for a horse at the end of the year. He offered it to me. When I saw the courses on video, I was a little skeptical but he believed in it a lot. He convinced me to try it and I finally found it very good. He is a very beautiful horse who moves well, who has a lot of potential. He has everything to compete at a high level even if he is still a little emotional. The Rochereau Breeding Farm, a continuation of the Coran breeding farm created by Anthony Morand’s father, is located in Saint-Césaire, near Saintes, in Charente-Maritime.I took over the breeding about twelve years ago when my father died.explains the breeder. This title is our first result at this level. It is a great reward for our work and will give us even more momentum. At the beginning, Jaloux was more intended for show jumping. Last year, he made the final at Fontainebleau with a small fault each time. But seeing his paces, I thought he had potential for eventing. At the origin of the crossbreeding, his father had caught my eye and I said to myself that with Liberté de Reverdy, a mare that my father had recovered at the sales, it could give something good. I said to myself why not… I have the answer today. It is a beautiful story”.

The Five-Year Criterion for Gucci by Hus and Thomas Carlile

Thomas Carlile, who won the last three years, had lost his hopes of a new title in the five-year-old category. In the lead after the dressage, Jalou B d’Argance (SF, Orient Express*HDC x Palme de Moyon by Barbarian), had hesitated too much the day before on a lower part of the cross-country course and was given twenty penalty points (“He remains a young horse who last year was in the final of the four-year-old show jumping competition but he could be very interesting for eventing, as evidenced by his first place in the Top 100 by taking a bit of practice. I completely excuse him because the five-year-old year is perhaps the most difficult for horses because they are put to work for the first time when they are still babies. It’s a postponement.”). The Young Horse specialist nevertheless won the criterion, open to foreign horses and for which the marks of model and style do not count. Author of a very beautiful clear round over the obstacles, with Gucci de Hus (HAN, Governor and Byzance de Hus by Bellissimo M), he even beat Landois in the total of the event.
“She is a mare who has a funny story and who I am becoming more and more fond ofcomments Carlile. It belongs to Jean-Maurice Gilbert and Laetitia Hereau. They came to see me at the end of last year and told me that they had a mare for the discipline. She made the finals in four years, in dressage. It is not always easy because these horses are born for locomotion and we need jumping ability. I agreed to try her. They trusted me. She entered the course of the three-year-olds that I had who took four. She learned to jump her first bars with foal gymnastics. She showed things and was not completely wrong. She had blood. The first rounds were difficult but we continued to work and things fell into place. Her best asset is her mentality. On that, she has 12 out of 10! She is very generous and determined. On a daily basis, she is a little joy to work on. This victory here at Pompadour is a great reward for her and those around her.

Thomas Carlile’s two horses lead the six-year-olds

Dethroned in the five-year-old category, Thomas Carlile could well console himself with the six-year-olds grouped together in a CCIYH 2*-S. He occupies the first two places with the mare Imperiale Dam (Contendro*GFE and Réalité du Thot by Hermès d’Authieux) who totals 25.8 points, and Iliade de Kerser (Untouchable M and Riane de Verez by Hoggar Mail), second last year in the five-year-old category, just 0.7 points behind the leader. Clear and on time on the cross-country course marked out by Nicolas Burtin (3,030 m to cover in 5’50”), he took advantage of Charlotte Bordas’s harmless fall with the Anglo-Arab gelding In Texto Rose AA (Upsilon and New Pap de Texo by Quick Star), in the lead before the cross-country course. Crowned European Young Riders Champion last September, in Montelibretti, with Firewall des Aucels, the rider was unseated on a directional at the exit of the first ford. With the stallion Ito de Lortenia (Upsilon and Naiaide du Thot by Socrate de Chivre), Fabrice Saintemarie is on the provisional third step of the podium (27.5 points) of a competition that is still undecided, with the first fourteen being separated by less than a bar. The end of the six-year-old Championship this Sunday at 2 p.m. for the obstacle. The three best will secure their qualification for the Mondial du Lion d’Angers (October 17-20), the world championship for horses of their age.

In the other competitions, Ippeekai d’Excelle (Untouchable and Rose d’Excelle by My Boy de St Aubert), ridden by Lionel Dupas, won the title of the Cycle Libre 3, 6-year-olds with a total of 28.4 points. Ippon du Dojo with Thibaud Halpern was second (30.4 points) and Islam du Faubourg, with Fanny Carles, third (31 points). In the 4-year-old Ponies, Beukenoords Balans (Cassanova du Bois and Beukenoords Bonnette by Bodo) won with Léo Loustaud at 21.35 points, ahead of Kassius K’lays (Simon Robichon), at 27.35 points and Kosmopolitan Ica (Juliette Deforges Nezan), at 28.70 points.
