As it happened in the first meeting and exchange of experiences Scholas Ocurrentes in Puerto Vallarta, the Governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, went to Tlajomulco de Zúñiga, to the closing of this experience, where the adolescents from the south of the city explained the The main problem detected and in which the lack of sexual education in the school environment will be worked on.

“That is why it is important that today they understand that what the municipal government and the State Government have come to do is that we have come to listen so that they can help us with what we have to do in the future to make this place better,” he said. the mandatary.

“What you are going to give us as guidance, what the great team of the Scholas Foundation has done together with you is going to be a work guide and a commitment that we are not going to fail. Imagine what it meant for me to start this project with Pope Francis, it goes beyond the faith we have, religion, “he added.

Alfaro Ramírez explained to the young people the experience he had with Pope Francis and the importance that girls and boys have for their holiness, who shares that the role of education and the processes of social transformation are a mechanism to overcome problems that today they seem impossible to solve.

The Jalisco Government team is committed so that the young people who today exposed their feelings and problems through a mural, are the ambassadors of the voices that gathered today at the El Valle Multidisciplinary Center, about 400 adolescents who gathered during 6 work days, as it was in Puerto Vallarta.

The Governor pointed out the complex issues that are dealt with within these dynamics, for which he seeks to work and find solutions and, in turn, raise awareness with families.

Yoxer Cabrales, students this week in Tlajomulco, spoke on behalf of all the participants and delved into these three main topics. For example, he proposed workshops for sexual education by conducting surveys; Request workshops in schools and teacher training on this topic.

“Generate spaces for parents and young people in sexual education, we propose this because there are homes where these issues are shameful,” said the adolescent.

During this intervention they lived together and received feedback from the guides and volunteers; in which they applied the methodology of the Scholas Ciudadanía program, which motivates them to investigate the chosen problem, contrast their hypotheses by conducting interviews with public servants, civil society surveys, as well as with specialists and people involved in the subject in different fields: social, psychological, medical and legal so that from this sampling, they could detect the causes and real factors that intervene in the lack of sexual education in the school environment to generate solution proposals.

As part of the activities, a video was projected on the dynamics and reflections expressed by the students, they unveiled 3 murals of artistic expression made by a group of 30 participants with the themes of Sexual Education, Addictions and intrafamily violence, and at the end They planted the Olive Tree of Peace, as a symbol of the commitment agreed between government and society, to continue on the path of rebuilding the social fabric and promoting a culture of peace, a symbolic act that the Pontifical Foundation carries out in all parts of the world Where do you implement your programs?

Throughout the world, Román Rodríguez, President of the Advisory Council of Scholas Ocurrentes, goes through these experiences, and recognized the listening that the Government of Jalisco has, which has been committed to this project from day one.

He added that Scholas is giving young people a voice, and that is why he announced today that Jalisco not only hosted the events, but that they will remain among the youth of Jalisco in these years to “accompany them in their concerns, which are ours.”

“We are going to carry out a training program for trainers in all the sports schools in Jalisco. We are going to be accompanying trainers who later have to work with you, so that they are later trained in the Scholas methodology and in our values, and we are helping them with our experience”, argued Román Rodríguez.

He added that there are more projects that champion the culture of peace, so now in sports it will be the Astros basketball team who champion this cause during the season.

The “Culture of Peace Scholas Ocurrentes Jalisco” plan, established by the Government of the state of Jalisco and the Scholas Ocurrentes Foundation, aims to build a “Culture of Encounter for Peace”, generating an education that gives meaning through an educational pact among members of society, by preventing and detecting situations of psychosocial risk in children and adolescents.
