Jakubovskis’ statements about Lashenko will be considered by the LFF’s ethics committee

Aleksandrs Jakubovskis’ statements that the President of the Latvian Football Federation Vadim Lashenko bought the recording of the conversation from Oleg Gavrilov, who was disqualified for life, will be evaluated by the LFF Fair Play and Ethics Committee.

As the portal “Delfi.lv” reported two weeks ago, the former head of the football club Daugavpils “Noah Jurmala” (formerly – Daugavpils “Lokomotiv”) Yakubovsky revealed to the media that in 2019 Lashenko met with Gavrilov, from whom he bought Record of the conversation between LFF President Kaspars Gorkš and Gavrilov, paying 50,000 euros for it. After that, in February 2019, Lashenko offered several people to listen to a conversation in which the voices of Gavrilov and Gorkš were heard.

The LFF reports that the Fair Gaming and Ethics Committee is reviewing the information made public and mentioned in the submission to the committee in connection with Jakubovskis’ statements. The LFF Board has also previously addressed the Committee, calling for the information mentioned in the application of Uldis Strautmanis, the editor-in-chief of the sports news department of the portal Delfi.lv, to be evaluated as soon as possible.

The Committee has so far held two meetings on this subject, summarizing the information available.

In order for the committee to be able to ascertain that there are objective reasons for the ethical breach case, it invited Jakubowski, the public information provider, to provide additional detailed information and to attend one of the committee’s forthcoming meetings.

The LFF and the LFF Fair Play and Ethics Committee will not comment further during the review.

Lashenko himself called Yakubovsky’s statements provocative and rumored, but did not give a clear answer as to whether or not he had met Gavrilov.
