Good news for Slovak clubs as well. Polish football defender Jakub Kiwior is leaving the Italian Premier League Spezia.
From Podbrezova to Arsenal
Soon, the 23-year-old stopper is leaving for the London Arsenal for over 20 million euros. Bonuses are also part of the agreement. Kiwior will sign a contract with the current leader of the English Premier League for five and a half years. Fabrizio Romano, an expert behind the scenes of the football market, informed.
Kiwior made his professional debut in the spring of 2019 in Podbrezova. Shortly before that, he came from Anderlecht to Brussels for an alleged fee of 100,000 euros, where he did not succeed.
Žilina can make millions
After six months, he left for Žilina for two and a half times as much, according to Transfermarkt. Under Dubň, he started in the reserve, but quickly worked his way up to support the first team. In the summer of 2021, he transferred to Spezia for an amount in the range of 1.5-2.2 million.
Part of the agreement was to include percentages from further sales. They are mostly at the level of 10%, which would add more than 2 million to the coffers of MŠK Žilina. Both Slovak clubs are also entitled to the so-called solidarity payments, educational payments for players aged 12-23. According to Transfermarkt, Podbrezová for 100,000, Žilina for 200,000.
He defended Messi and Mbappé in Qatar
After transferring to Spezia in the summer of 2021, Kiwior initially sat on the bench, making his debut only in December. Since then, he started regularly and soon speculations linking him with a transfer to an even better club began to multiply.
Last year he broke into the Polish national team, at the World Cup in Qatar he played in all four matches in the starting lineup. He also defended the stars of the championship, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappé.
With Arsenal for the first title in 19 years
Kiwior, as a left-footed stopper, will be a competitor in Arsenal especially for the Brazilian Gabriel, who has not missed a single minute in the current season of the Premier League. In the middle of the defense in a 4-3-3 formation, French world vice-champion William Saliba regularly starts next to him.
Spanish coach Mikel Arteta’s men are well on their way to winning their 14th English title, their first since 2004.
