Latvian basketball players Ingus Jakovičs and Artūrs Strautiņš scored 16 and 15 points, respectively, in the Italian A-series game on Sunday, helping Varese’s “Openjobmetis” team to win the Rome “Virtus” team with 98:88.
Jakovich spent 31 minutes and 15 seconds on the court, during which he sent five of the nine long shots and his only free throw in the basket, but did not hit one two-point shot. He also scored four rebounds, scored twice, made one mistake, broke twice, provoked three remarks and scored 17 efficiency points.
Meanwhile, Strautiņš played for 27 minutes and 29 seconds, taking five of eight two-point shots, one of three “threes” and two of three free throws. He also fought seven rebounds, scored twice, made two mistakes, broke four times, provoked two remarks and scored 14 efficiency points. Stream with a positive +/- score of 14 was the second best player in the team in this statistic.
The winners with 19 points and 15 rebounds were Louis School, and 18 points and 11 balls under the baskets were for Anthony Morse.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Trieste “Allianz” represented by Andrejs Gražuulis and the “UnaHotels” of Reggio di Emilia represented by Jānis Blumas did not come to the square this weekend.
The Reggio di Emilia team is seventh with three wins in five games, the Varese club is ninth with three successes in eight doubles, and the Trieste team has won two of the five fights, giving it the tenth position. There are 16 teams playing in the A series this season.
