Jakob Ingebrigtsen (20) is granted special treatment by the NM organizer in Kristiansand to get to the hooks after the double race in the Diamond League final in Zurich.

The NM organizer announces this on Monday morning, who is also making changes for the sake of Karsten Warholm’s and Amalie Iuel’s international competition plan this week.
According to the plan, Jakob Ingebrigtsen will run 5000 meters on Wednesday and 1500 meters in Switzerland on Thursday. The first place bonus is $ 30,000. That is 260,000 kroner. With victory on the temporary 560-meter-long track on Zurich’s main square and on the athletics track Letzigrund the following evening, he will apparently also raise 20,000 dollars (175,000 kroner) – the bonus for this year’s consistently best distance runner (“Most consistent athlete”).
A total of NOK 695,000 at the current exchange rate.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen won the 3000 meters in Lausanne two weeks ago, a few days after winning the mile race in Eugene on the west coast of the USA:
The prize bonuses in the athletics NM 10.-12. September is not of the same caliber. But Jakob Ingebrigtsen is highly valued, similar to last year when the championship took place in Bergen. This year’s NM has, like the NM last year, been moved from an earlier date, which is why it crashes with the Diamond League final – and therefore the NM program is being prepared for Norway’s Olympic gold medalist in the 1500 meters.
He does not have to rush from Gardermoen to Kristiansand to reach the qualifying heat on Friday night, and goes straight into the final field on Saturday night as the 13th “qualified” – expressed as in the organizer’s last update on Monday: “12 runners advance to the final from the trial heats. Jakob Ingebrigtsen gets an extra place as the 13th man in the final without running a try. “
Jakob Ingebrigtsen doubled by 1500 meters and 800 meters in the NM last year, and together with Amalie Iuel – who ran 400 meters hurdles – was awarded the King’s Cup.
Karsten Warholm, Amalie Iuel and Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal will also run in Zurich. Bjerkeli Grøvdal entered the 5000 final field on Wednesday after a couple of original qualifiers withdrew. The 400-meter that Iuel will run on Thursday night is not included in the final and cash bonus program. It is of course Warholm’s 400 meter hurdles later Thursday night, where he in the battle for the first prize 260,000 kroner meets, among others, Olympic bronze winner Alison dos Santos from Brazil.
Arch-rival Rai Benjamin from the USA will not start.
There was a lot of NM noise around Amalie Iuel last year when she and Karsten Warholm ran in a Diamond League competition in Rome, came late to Bergen and she on the basis of the infection control rules “Did not” have to run the initial heat in the 400 meter hurdles. This time, the organizer has set up two heats of 400 meters (flat) on Friday afternoon, where the first will consist of the eight best.
A pure final race is eliminated. The runner with the best time – from the two heats – wins NM gold. Warholm and Iuel come from Zurich to Kristiansand the same day, run to the organizer’s joy 400 meters flat, and then the next day travel to Berlin and start in the big ISTAF competition at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday.
Karoline Bjerkeli Grøvdal will run 5000 meters in the NRK-shown NM on Friday afternoon and 1500 meters in Berlin on Sunday. She set a personal record with 14.43.26 in the 5000 meters in Brussels Diamond League Conference Friday.
