James Oftebro (36) is in the new TV series 2 “Kids in crime”, which will debut on November 25th.
The series offers a number of brutal scenes and Oftebro is almost unrecognizable in the role of drug kingpin Freddy Hælvette.
– It was a lot of fun, then I had to turn it off. I’m usually very polite and nice, but then I turned it all off. So there were some pretty tough days on set, says the actor about what it was like to play a drug lord.
You’ve never seen it like this
– It’s a lot of fun to be able to play a character like that, and live it to the fullest, he continues.
Injured during the search trip
In order to discover his inner and outer Freddy Hælvette, the actor went on a research trip to Sarpsborg.
– It was completely raw. This was the way it was supposed to be, it was the first time my boyfriend was even really worried – “how is this going to end?” more or less, explains the 36-year-old.
He admits that things have been going pretty hot for him and that not everything has gone exactly to plan. A trip to the cafe ended in a broken rib.
– But it was absolutely right. I don’t think I could have become Freddy Hælvette without that trip.
Say no to cancer surgery
It started when someone who was present at the café where Oftebro was to do research was about to assault an elderly woman.
So the actor chimed in and said the man would rather fight with him.
– There were a few seconds where I was quite worried, especially in relation to the fact that I have a responsibility towards the production, but luckily it turned out as it did, so there weren’t any problems.
Oftebro is also pleased that he was able to help the lady.
– I’m quite proud too, I stopped him from beating up an old lady in the pub. I didn’t bother being a part of it, so somehow I think it was cool.
Though it was a heroic act, it ended in a broken rib and pain.
Reveal details of intimate scenes
– I suffered for a month, but luckily this happened also a month before shooting, so when we finally started there were no problems, says the actor and continues:
– It was just amazing, going to the boxing club in Oslo with a broken rib and training even though it hurt like hell, it was absolutely amazing.
In other words, the 36-year-old takes it with impressive composure. She explains that she is someone who “loves having a stone in her shoe”.
– How did your girlfriend react when you came home with an injury?
– She was quite upset then, yes, she was, Oftebro replies and adds:
– But my God, it’s just funny, and he also thinks it’s cool when he sees that I work a lot to make it as good as possible.
Sharply admitted: – Completely unreal
Oftebro can also reveal that it’s also better for the family to have fun at work.
– I tend to be absolutely unbearable if I’m bored at work. If I’m bored at work, I’m bored at home too. If I enjoy myself at work, I’m very happy at home.
