Jake Paul loses to Tommy Fury by split decision – Boxing – Sportacentrs.com

Jake Paul (6-1) gained worldwide fame as an Internet personality, but knew how to use that fame as a springboard for his professional boxing career. So far, he had won all six of his fights, though all of them were against other celebrities or former MMA fighters.

Tonight was the first time Jake Paul fought a professional boxer – Tommy Fury (9-0), brother of heavyweight champion Tyson Fury.

It should be emphasized that on the sports level alone, this fight was low – it was a fight between two boxers who are ranked third in the world in their weight category. But in terms of attracted attention, this fight is surely one of the biggest boxing events this winter.

Tommy Fury won on points in an eight-round fight. Two judges scored the fight 76-73 in favor of Fury, while one judge scored the fight 75-74 in favor of Paul. In any case, Paul proved that he can fight equally against a professional boxer.

Fury was more active and accurate with his punches throughout the fight. Even though he was mostly on the defensive and Paul was in the center of the ring, Paul rarely landed accurate shots. There was a lot of clinch and grappling, each boxer also received a penalty point.

In the eighth round, Paul managed to catch his opponent in the middle of the movement and knock him down with an accurate shot. Fury got up immediately and didn’t give his opponent a chance to stand out for the rest of the time.

Paul, whose free advertising campaign in Latvia has been organized by Mairis Briedis for a long time, has the right to demand a rematch, which he publicly promised to do after the fight. Paul did not dispute the judges’ decision and admitted that Fury deservedly won, but expressed his readiness to show a much better performance in the rematch.
