Jake Paul and Tommy Fury go to a verdict – after eight rounds of war!

The famous Youtube boxer Jake Paul and the professional boxer Tommy Fury collided on Sunday evening in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The boxers have been rumored to face each other for the past two years, and expectations for the bout were high. Fury is the half-brother of the heavyweight champion Tyson Fury and made his professional debut in 2018. Paul became known to the public around 2010, after he broke through on the internet platform Youtube. The 26-year-old had his first professional boxing match in 2020. Paul has since defeated three former MMA champions, including the former UFC champions Tyron Woodley and Anderson Silva. Both Fury and Paul were undefeated before Sunday’s match.

The YouTube boxer looked comfortable and joked in the pre-fight interviews, while Fury looked more composed. “The bullshit is now over,” said the legendary presenter Michael Buffer before the boxers stepped into the ring. After the American and English national anthems were played, the game began.

Fury came out aggressively and immediately tried to establish his jab, while Paul swung wildly with his right. After a very fast pace in the first few rounds, they both started to slow down in the middle of the fourth round. Fury took advantage of his range more and more as the match went on, starting to hit Paul with his long jab. The Youtube boxer constantly threatened with his powerful right.

In the fifth round, Paul received a points deduction after hitting Fury in the back of the head. In round six, Fury also received a points deduction. Both Fury and Paul looked tired during the round break before the seventh round. In the last two rounds, the boxing match began to resemble a wrestling match, and the referee had to step in and separate several times. In the eighth round, Fury fell to the mat, after a quick jab from Paul. After eight tough rounds, Tommy Fury was declared the winner via split decision.
