Jakarta’s Fate Leaks After the Capital City Moves to Kalimantan

Jakarta

BUMN Minister Erick Thohir emphasized that the development in Jakarta do not stop. He also dismissed Jakarta as being abandoned after the nation’s capital moved to East Kalimantan.

“Don’t let Jakarta, with the perceptions that are built, seem like it wants to be abandoned, that’s not true. We will continue to build Jakarta, we need 10 cities,” said Erick at the Investor Appreciation Night event, Thursday (19/1/2023).

Erick also revealed the Jakarta development plan. He said, in the next 7 months the National Monument (Monas) area will be green.

Then Erick said a number of assets would be under the property fund.

“Later, we’ll see in 7 months, Monas will be green, if it’s green, what are the plans for the government to become, there are lots of BUMN buildings, lots of ministry buildings that want to be made… under the property fund,” he said.

Erick said the development was being carried out so that Jakarta would become a new city center.

“So what, there is a new city center in Jakarta, if in London it can, in New York it can, then Jakarta can’t have a central park like them, why, right, some are moving,” he said.
