Jakarta –
Minister of Communications Budi Karya Sumadi together with the Acting (PJ) Governor of DKI Jakarta Heru Budi Hartono carry out project inspections Greater Jakarta LRT which is targeted to operate commercially in August 2023. Budi Karya hopes that with the Jabodebek LRT, people will switch to mass transportation.
Budi revealed that the Jabodebek LRT is capable of transporting up to 500 thousand passengers per day. If combined with the Jabodetabek KRL passengers of 1.2 million passengers, then in total there will be 1.7 million passengers per day transported using the two mass transits.
“We want to make sure that connectivity through mass transportation can be done better, so that more and more people are turning to mass transportation. Because the fees to be paid are very high when using private vehicles. If you take the LRT it can be cheaper, faster, less jammed and pollution-free.” ,” said Budi in his written statement, Wednesday (28/6/2023).
The review of the LRT project was carried out today. Budi Karya together with Heru Budi and local government officials, took the Jabodebek LRT from Dukuh Atas Station, Jakarta to Jatimulya Station, East Bekasi and returned to Halim Station, Jakarta.
The trial will be carried out starting July 12 with limited operations. Rates will be charged IDR 1.
“On July 12, we will start conducting a limited operational trial with a tariff of Rp. 1 rupiah which will be carried out by KAI. It is hoped that on August 18, 2023 it will be inaugurated by Mr. President Jokowi and operate commercially,” said Budi Karya.
After testing the Jabodebek LRT, Budi said, the journey can be taken in a shorter time than using a private vehicle.
It is recorded that the travel time from Dukuh Atas Station, Jakarta to Harjamukti Station, Cibubur is 39 minutes. Meanwhile, from Dukuh Atas Station, Jakarta to Jatimulya Station, East Bekasi is 43 minutes.
“This is faster than using a vehicle even via the toll road, which can take about two hours. Taking the LRT can cut the time by a third. This is a significant figure,” he said.
On the same occasion, Heru Budi fully supports the construction of the Jabodebek LRT in order to reduce congestion in the city of Jakarta and the cities around it.
“Thank you to the central government and the Minister of Transportation for building the Jabodebek LRT. Hopefully it can be useful for people who work and are active in Jakarta and its surroundings. Let’s take advantage of it together and take good care of the work of the nation’s children,” he said.
The Director General of Railways, Risal Wasal, said that as of June 2023, the entire preparation and construction process for the Jabodebek LRT had reached 95.09% and left work related to operating system calibration.
“We are also conducting a series of tests to ensure that safety aspects are met, so that the operating license can be issued immediately. We hope that the process will run smoothly and on target so that people can immediately enjoy the Jabodebek LRT service,” he said.
The operating license is targeted to be issued in July, so that a trial operation or soft launching can be carried out, before later operating commercially in August.
In addition to the operational readiness of the Jabodebek LRT, intermodal integration between Jabodebek LRT services and other modes of transportation services is also being prepared.
Intermodal integration is an important aspect that must be prepared prior to operation. This is in accordance with the objectives of the Jabodebek LRT development, which is to provide integrated transportation services, be environmentally friendly, and support development in areas in Greater Jakarta.
Other modes of transportation services that will be connected to the Jabodebek LRT include: Transjakarta, city buses, KRL, MRT, Jaklingko, public transportation, and other modes.
Especially at Halim LRT Station, it will be connected with the Jakarta – Bandung Fast Train (KJCB) and several other modes such as: Transjakarta, Royaltrans, as well as taxis and travel which have specially prepared stops.
In this phase 1 construction, the Jabodebek LRT serves three lines, namely: Cawang – Cibubur, Cawang – Dukuh Atas, and Cawang – Bekasi
