Jakarta Kicks Off Vote Recount Utilizing Sirekap Technology
Jakarta’s General Elections Commission (KPU) has commenced the vote recapitulation process for the 2024 Regional Election, employing the innovative Sirekap technology to ensure transparency and accountability.
The vote counting process, which begins at the sub-district level, officially started on November 28th and will continue through December 16th, culminating in the determination of the final results at the provincial level. This multi-tiered approach involves meticulous counting at each stage, first at the sub-district level, then progressing to the city/regency level, and finally concluding at the province level.
"The vote recapitulation will be conducted gradually, starting from the sub-district level, city/regency, and province from Thursday until December 16, 2024," stated Jakarta KPU Chairman Wahyu Dinata in Jakarta on Thursday, November 28th.
Transparency and Public Access At the Heart of the Process
Highlighting the KPU’s commitment to transparency, Wahyu Dinata emphasized that the entire process would be open to public scrutiny.
"We will provide digital access via YouTube at the sub-district level. We hope the public can directly witness the recapitulation process conducted at the sub-district level," Wahyu said, demonstrating a proactive approach to engaging citizens in the electoral process.
This dedication to transparency ensures public confidence and trust in the election results.
Sirekap: Leveraging Technology for Enhanced Accountability
Central to this vote recapitulation is the implementation of Sirekap (Recapitulation Information System). This advanced technology platform plays a crucial role in seamlessly managing and publishing the vote count data, bolstering the integrity and accountability of the electoral administration.
While Sirekap streamlines the process, the Jakarta KPU underscores the importance of manual calculations as the foundation for determining the final results, ensuring a robust and multi-layered verification process.
Data C: Early Results Accessible to the Public
Data from all 14,835 polling stations (TPS) across Jakarta has already been comprehensively entered into the Sirekap system, making it publicly accessible via the pilkada2024.kpu.go.id channel. This open access initiative allows citizens to stay informed and track the progress of the vote counting in real-time, further promoting transparency and participation.
A Melting Pot of Candidates:
The 2024 Jakarta Regional Election features a dynamic race with three pairs of gubernatorial and deputy gubernatorial candidates vying for the top spots.
-
Ridwan Kamil-Suswono (RIDO)
-
Dharma Pongrekun-Kun Wardana (Dharma-Kun)
- Pramono Anung-Rano Karno (Pram-Doel)
With over 8.2 million registered voters exercising their right to vote across 14,835 polling stations on November 27th, the 2024 Jakarta Regional Election is set to be a closely watched contest.
The Jakarta KPU’s utilization of Sirekap technology not only reflects a commitment to innovation but also underscores a belief in the power of technology to strengthen democratic processes by fostering transparency, accountability, and public engagement. As the vote count progresses, the results will continue to shape the political landscape of Jakarta, making this election a pivotal moment for the city’s future.
