Jakarta is focusing on six priority issues to support its global city transformation, including flood prevention and poverty alleviation.

The Jakarta provincial government is focusing on six priority issues to support the city’s program planning and development activities aiming for its transformation into a “global city.” The six priority issues are flood prevention, recovery from economic slowdown, poverty alleviation, stunting handling, strengthening democratic values, and traffic congestion. The acting Governor of Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, announced that he would ensure that the people’s aspirations were considered while preparing programs and activities that could bring benefits to the community. The Jakarta provincial government is preparing to transform the city into a global city as per the Law Number 3 of 2022 concerning the Capital City. Jakarta will lose its tag as Indonesia’s capital city to the new capital city (IKN) Nusantara in East Kalimantan. The government has invited the National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) and the Ministry of Home Affairs to prepare Jakarta as a global city through several programs and activities. President Joko Widodo said that Jakarta would continue to be improved as a business and tourism city, while IKN Nusantara would become a government city.
