“Jakarta Implements One Way Traffic and Prepares for Eid al-Fitr Backflow”

Jakarta

Traffic engineering one way will be implemented starting from the Kalikangkung Toll Road (Semarang) to the Main Cikampek Toll Road (Cikatama) today. However, one way will be extended to Halim if severe traffic jams occur.

“Likewise, what if it has to be done turns out to be done one way up to the Jakarta area. We have prepared starting from 70, then Km 36 (Bekasi), even up to Km 3 +5000 (Halim),” said National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo on Kemenko PMK’s YouTube account, Sunday (23/4/2023).

“We are preparing all of this including the contra flow arrangements adjusted to the calculations at Jasa Marga,” he added.

Not only one way and contra flow, the police are also preparing an odd-even system when the traffic is back. However, the odd-even system is enforced if there is enough traffic jam on the toll road.

According to the National Police Chief, General Sigit, it is estimated that April 24 and 25 must be unraveled, otherwise it will become a burden and stagnation will occur.

The government has predicted the return flow of Eid 2023 travelers to occur at the beginning and end of this week. It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of vehicles returned to Jakarta and its surroundings within two days.

“The peak of the (back) homecoming flow is expected to be April 24-25 and May 1,” said Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy.

It is estimated that hundreds of thousands of vehicles cross the toll road towards the capital city. The government asked travelers not to rush back to Jakarta if there were no urgent activities.

“PT Jasa Marga predicts that 203 thousand vehicles will travel April 24-25 2023 to Jakarta and its surroundings,” he added.
