Jakarta Health Office Continues Monitoring Aedes Aegypti Mosquito Control Program Using Wolbachia Technology

Liputan6.com, Jakarta The Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) regularly monitors the Aedes Aegypti Mosquito Control Program using Wolbachia technology whose eggs were spread in Kembangan Utara Village, West Jakarta (Jakbar).

Head Jakarta Health Department Ani Ruspitawati said the program is currently under development.

“So far, as many as 1,279 Foster Parents (OTA) from 11 RWs in Kembangan Utara Sub-District have been willing to participate in this program,” Ani said in a written statement, announced on Thursday (24/ 10/2024).

He said buckets containing Wolbachia mosquito eggs and food were distributed to OTAs’ homes from October 8, 2024.

Distribution of mosquito eggs is to reduce the ability of mosquitoes that cause dengue fever to breed and spread the virus.

“The hope is that the number of mosquitoes that carry the dengue fever virus will decrease significantly, thus preventing the spread of dengue fever,” said Ani.
