Jakarta DPR Legislative Body Discusses Draft Law for Jakarta Special Region

Jakarta

DPR Legislative Body (Baleg). will discuss the Draft Law (RUU) Jakarta Special Region (DKJ) after receiving the Problem Inventory List (DIM) from the government. Chairman of the DPR Baleg, Supratman, said that currently Jakarta has lost its status as a special capital region (DKI).

“The problem is this, the DKI Bill has lost its status since February 15. That’s the implication of the IKN Law. Well, it ends on February 15,” said Supratman to journalists at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI building, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (5/3/2024).

Supratman said that his party would speed up the discussion DKJ Bill along with the loss of Jakarta’s status. According to him, Jakarta will remain a region with specialties which will later be discussed again in the discussion of the DKJ Bill.

“Now DKI doesn’t have any status. That’s what makes us have to speed things up. So, thoughts about its specificity are what gave birth to ideas, one of which concerns the issue of Article 10. Because it’s called a special region. Apart from its specificity, it is for the economic, financial, industrial centers, and so on,” he said.

Furthermore, Supratman said that the DPR Baleg would hold a working meeting with the government to discuss the bill the day after tomorrow. He targets that this bill can be completed within 10 days.

“If possible, we want to finish it within, if we can do a working meeting the day after tomorrow, for example, within a week to 10 days the work must be finished, because DKI has lost its status,” he said.
