Jakarta Deputy Governor Says There Are 24 New Cases Suspected of Hepatitis Symptoms in Children

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has again found a suspected case of the disease hepatitis who attacks children. There have been 24 cases recorded today.

“Indeed, there are 24 more cases of hepatitis category which are generally symptomatic. However, they are still in the form of symptoms,” said DKI Jakarta Deputy Governor Ahmad Riza Patria at the DKI Jakarta City Hall Office, Thursday (12/5/2022).

Riza said DKI Jakarta has been through the COVID pandemic for two years and is currently facing a suspected case of acute hepatitis. Until now, the cause of the disease is still not known with certainty.

“The 24 that were still in the category of children are still symptomatic. Now again, the most important thing besides us is of course the Provincial Government, Health Office, and related agencies to carry out socialization notifications, circulars through social media and so on,” said Riza.

The Gerindra politician emphasized that the findings of the 24 new cases were different from the previous 21 cases.

Deputy Governor Forbids Children to Play in Public Places

Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta Ahmad Riza Patria asked parents to prevent their children from playing in public places for the time being. This aims to prevent the spread of mysterious acute hepatitis in children.

“Regarding acute hepatitis, we ask especially children who are easily infected to postpone playing in public places, such as shared swimming pools,” said Riza at the DKI Jakarta City Hall Office, Wednesday (11/5/2022).

“Please avoid places or objects that are shared, including eating at a shared dining area,” he added.

PTM Review

Previously, Riza said that his party would review the face-to-face learning (PTM) policy in schools. He said the provincial government would continue to monitor PTM activities.

“Including PTM, we are still studying whether we will return to school online, We’ll see,” said Riza.
