Jakarta –
The Director of Law Enforcement (Dirgakkum) Korlantas Polri Brigadier General Aan Suhanan said that it is almost certain that the traffic flow on the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road will not be carried out one way or a one-way system when Lebaran. This was confirmed after the National Police Traffic Corps carried out traffic engineering calculations for the 2023 Lebaran homecoming traffic.
“We will carry out some traffic engineering, for the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road we will almost certainly not do one way,” said Aan in a joint working meeting with Commission V DPR RI, Tuesday (4/4/2023).
Aan said that one way was not necessary because the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road could be engineered by implementing a 3-lane contra flow. According to him, this application can provide an opportunity for motorists from Bandung to pass the Jakarta-Cikampek Toll Road at the same time commuting flow.
“What we currently have is a maximum of 3 lanes of contra flow later, because now in Cikampek 47 to 65 there are 4 lanes, so this is enough with 3 lanes of contra flow, this is already 8 lanes,” said Aan.
“So we don’t need one way so that we can provide an opportunity for people from Bandung when the homecoming flow is still able to go through the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road. We will provide 1 lane and a shoulder of the road,” he continued.
He detailed the density indicators for the Jakarta Cikampek toll road section which is at KM 65 B. Contra flow traffic engineering will be applied if:
– 1 lane of motor vehicles (motorized vehicles) has reached 5,500 vehicles/hour (60%)
– 2 lanes of motorized vehicles have reached 6,400 vehicles/hour
– 3 lanes of motorized vehicles have reached 7,300 vehicles/hour
“If that figure is close to 60% of the existing capacity per hour, we will do a contra flow,” said Aan.
He said that if Cikampek has contra flow with 2 lanes, then in Cipali one way will be applied. This is so that there is no bottle neck at the entrance to Cipali.
“During Cikampek contra flow with Cipali’s capacity which is still 2 lanes, meaning that if the 8 lanes were combined earlier, entering Cikampek 2 lanes this will result in a bottle neck. So it is possible that if Cikampek already has 2 lanes contra flow, we will apply one way in Cipali,” said Aan.
However, Aan said that one way implementation could be carried out in Cipali to KM 414 Kalikangkung. This engineering is applied when Cikampek has contra flow 2 lanes.
“We have conducted a survey, for Cipali, if there are still two lanes, we can contra-flow. But, because of the length, considering security, we agree that if Cikampek has contra-flow of 2 lanes, one way will be carried out in Cipali up to KM 414 in Kalikangkung,” he said.
