Jaime Lozano has once again spoken out about the future of Santiago Gimenez. The Mexico national coach recently visited Feyenoord and based on conversations with the Rotterdam team, Lozano assumes that Gimenez will make a top transfer next summer.
“There are several clubs that want to pay a lot next summer,” Lozano told Mexican media. “He has grown enormously. What I think, feel and discussed a bit with the club is that it will be difficult for Santiago to stay at this club for a long time. Because there are several clubs who will pay a lot this summer and who are very interested be in him.”
Gimenez has been called up for Mexico’s upcoming international match. Next Friday, Mexico will play Panama in the semi-finals of the CONCACAF Nations League. The third place match or final will be played on Monday, March 24. Feyenoord resumes the competition on Sunday, March 31, with a match against FC Utrecht.
Gimenez response
Gimenez himself is not concerned with the coming summer and focuses mainly on Feyenoord. ”When people ask me about the next step, I always think: Wait… I’m at the beginning of my career. God’s timing is perfect and you also have to be patient and enjoy the moment. And I really do that in Rotterdam. I think others are in more of a hurry than me. I remain calm and trust that it will happen eventually.”
