Jail for fornication with 15-year-old girl Berghem missing for days

The 32-year-old Kevin K. from The Hague has been sentenced to three years in prison, half of which is conditional, for, among other things, fornication and the withdrawal of authority from a 15-year-old girl from Berghem. The court also considers it proven that K. had child pornography of another underage girl in his possession.

The 15-year-old girl was late last year missing for days after she left her home in Berghem. After an Amber Alert, the girl was found in the suspect’s home in The Hague. K. was immediately arrested.

After having had intensive contact with the girl via chat sites, K. picked her up at her home last October. According to the girl, she then had sex with K. there. It is established before the court that K. knew that the girl was a minor.

Chat messages

The suspect stated that he wanted to get the victim out of her predicament and that he wanted to help. He has always denied having sex with her, reports Broadcasting Brabant.

The court finds that there is enough evidence to assume that K. had sex with the girl. “We also took into account that they exchanged chat messages in advance in which he clearly stated what he wanted to do with the victim sexually,” the judge said.

On K.’s phones, the police found chats, photos and videos showing that he had contact with another 14-year-old girl in June last year. This contact also revolved around sex: K. had the girl make explicit photos and videos, which were sent to him.

Contact ban

The court also declared fornication proven here. In addition, possession of child pornography has been established. In addition to the 14-year-old’s footage, other videos were found, as well as links leading to large amounts of child pornography.

In determining the sentence, the court took into account the national unrest caused by the disappearance of the girl from Berghem. The court also takes the fact that the man abused vulnerable minors very seriously. In addition to the prison sentence, K. is obliged to undergo treatment and is not allowed to contact his victims.

K. is also no longer allowed to seek online contact with minors and he is no longer allowed to have sexually explicit conversations. It is also checked whether he is no longer involved in finding pornographic material.
