The community had applied for a temporary injunction at the end of September to prevent the asylum camp in the industrial park from continuing to operate. The Chemnitz administrative court has not yet ruled on this.
The Jahnsdorf community is still waiting for a decision on how to proceed with the refugee accommodation in the Pfaffenhain industrial area. It has been a good month since the administration initiated the application for an injunction. Jahnsdorf wants as part of an urgent procedure that the district closes the accommodation. “Under an urgent procedure I had imagined something different,” said Mayor Albrecht Spindler in the most recent council meeting on Monday evening. The municipality’s lawyer is also surprised that the Chemnitz administrative court takes so long to process the application.

The Jahnsdorfer and the district office had agreed in 2015 that the building permit for the asylum camp should last for five years. Normally, such systems are not allowed to be built in commercial areas. But under the conditions of the refugee crisis, a special regulation applied. The municipality is of the opinion that the legal basis for an extension of the building permit no longer exists today. The five-year period expired on September 30th. Nevertheless, the district office is sticking to the system. 94 people currently live in the property. Ten other people are housed decentrally in Jahnsdorf.
