Jaguars call on WR Johnson for loader waivers, add 13

JACKSONVILLE, Fla .: Jacksonville claimed wide receiver Tyron Johnson on waiver from the Los Angeles Chargers on Wednesday, the only move the Jaguars made despite all players being dropped from the final roster.

Johnson spent time with Houston, Buffalo, Carolina and the Chargers during his rookie year in 2019. He played 12 games for the Chargers last season and recorded 20 receptions for 398 yards and three touchdowns. The New Orleans native played collegially at Oklahoma State.

The Jaguars have also signed 13 players to their practice squad, including wide receivers Jeff Cotton, Phillip Dorsett, Josh Hammond and Laquon Treadwell. Coach Urban Meyer called the post his biggest concern after the final cups.

The team also gave up defensive tackle Daniel Ekuale to make room for Johnson on the 53-man roster and released safety Josh Jones from the injured reserve via an injury settlement.
