Jaguar to Cease Production of Petrol and Diesel Models in 2024 – What’s Next for Dealers and Consumers?

STOP PRODUCTION, NOT SALE – The production of most of the Jaguar with engines petrol and diesel will be discontinued starting from June 2024, but the first of a new generation of fully electric vehicles from the English brand isn’t expected to arrive until 2025. During this transition period, the production lines will remain at a standstill, but what will happen to the dealers? Will they be left with empty showrooms? Trying to remove some concerns is Joe Eberhardt, CEO of the JLR group in North America, who in an interview with Road&Track stated that “most of our products production will cease in June, but they will be on sale for a much longer period.” JLR is therefore planning production to have a continuous supply of vehicles until the new models arrive.

THE I-PACE SURVIVES – The models that will end their production in June are the SUV F-Pacethe most compact E-Pace and the sedan XF. In recent weeks, the latest F-Type sports cars ordered by customers are being prepared. The last model in Jaguar’s current range to end its life cycle, probably early next year, will be the electric I-Pace, built in Austria in the Magna Steyr plants. Stuart Schorr, spokesperson for JLR, said that in the English factory in Castle Bromwich, when the production of vehicles will be discontinued, the transition towards the bodywork components of the company’s future models will begin.

PREMIUM THE GT – The first car of the new electric generation will be one Super luxury GTa four-door fastback with all-wheel drive, the first to use the exclusive platform electric car from Jaguar called JEA. The English company promises fast charging, autonomy of up to 700 km and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in around 4 seconds. The GT is expected to be shown later this year to begin sales starting from 2025. After the GT, two SUVs/crossovers should arrive, both based on the JEA, the first scheduled for the end of 2025 and the second in 2026.
