YS Jagan Slams Government Over Tirupati Stampede, Demands Accountability and Compensation
In a fiery address following his visit to Tirupati, former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy accused the ruling alliance government of negligence and fear-mongering,claiming they attempted to block his visit to the holy city. jagan, who spent hours consoling victims of the recent stampede at SVIMS Hospital, did not mince words as he held the state governance accountable for the tragedy.
The stampede, which occurred during the Vaikuntha ekadashi festivities, left dozens dead and injured. Jagan described the incident as “unprecedented in the history of the state,” emphasizing the lack of security measures at the token counters. “Every year, millions of devotees flock to tirupati for the darshan of Lord Venkateswara. Why was there no security at the token counters? TTD officials, including the district collector, are responsible for this disaster,” he stated.
Jagan’s visit to the hospital was marked by empathy and resolve. He spent 5 to 10 minutes with each victim, listening to their harrowing experiences. His interactions highlighted the human cost of the tragedy, as he later addressed the media, demanding justice for the victims.
the former CM also took aim at Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, accusing him of mishandling the situation. “This is Chandrababu’s own district, yet the TTD acted irresponsibly. This is government negligence. The government should take full responsibility for the incident,” Jagan asserted. He further criticized Naidu for his remarks on the Tirumala Laddu prasadams,claiming the CM’s lack of devotion and fear of God contributed to the tragedy.
Jagan concluded his address by demanding a compensation of at least ₹50 lakh for the families of the deceased, urging the government to act swiftly.
