Jakarta –
Manchester United reportedly no longer seriously eyeing Jadon Sancho. Instead, the Red Devils are aiming for the midfielder Sporting CP, Pedro Goncalves.
The Telegraph and Daily Mail reported that Goncalves’ performance has attracted MU’s interest. This 22-year-old player has packed 15 goals and 5 assists in 26 games this season.
Goncalves’ performance also managed to lift Sporting’s achievements in the domestic arena. The team with the lion logo is currently at the top of the Portuguese League standings with 61 points from 23 matches, 10 points ahead of Porto.
Because of that, MU it is said that he will try to sign him and want to pair him with Bruno Fernandes in midfield. Moreover, the two of them have also worked together at Sporting, so it’s predictable that it won’t take long to tune di MU.
After failing to recruit last summer Sancho, MU is believed to be still looking for additional ammunition in midfield. However, due to the price Goncalves cheaper, MU is believed to override Sancho.
The value of Goncalves’ release clause was reported to be ‘only’ 51.7 million Pounds. This figure is much cheaper than Sancho, who last summer was priced at no less than 108 million pounds by Borussia Dortmund.
Although this season has operated a lot as a central midfielder, Goncalves can also play as a winger. This will make it easier for manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to devise tactics.
And look at the relationship MU and Sporting which is quite good in the past, Goncalves opportunities to move to Old Trafford are wide open.
