Manchester United announced, on Thursday, the absence of Jadon Sancho from team training due to a “discipline problem.”
Sancho had claimed on social media that he had been made a “scapegoat” after being left out of Man United’s squad during their 3-1 loss to Arsenal earlier this month.
Man United said in a statement: “Jadon Sancho will remain in a personal training program away from the first team squad pending the resolution of a team disciplinary issue.”
In turn, Man United’s technical director, Eric Ten Hag, stated that the striker was excluded from the Arsenal match due to his performance in training.
Sancho did not mention Ten Hag in his post on the “X” platform (formerly Twitter), but his words were widely considered a response to the coach’s comments.
The England international said he would not allow people to say things that were “completely untrue”.
He added: “I think there are other reasons for this, which I will not go into…I have been a scapegoat for a long time and this is not fair.”
Sancho (23 years old), who was linked with a move to Saudi Arabia during the last transfer window, joined Man United from Borussia Dortmund for 85 million euros (then $100 million) in 2021.
