In mid-October, Jada shared several statements as she prepared for the release of her memoir ‘Worthy.’ Through an exclusive interview with Today, the actress revealed that she was “surprised” because Will Smith called her “his wife” at the 94th Academy Awards, since they are “separated.”
The actress revealed that she has been separated from Will Smith since 2016, but that although the separation was, in essence, a divorce, they are still legally married. Jada clarified that they have chosen to remain legally married due to the “deep love” they still have for each other, which is why she clarifies that they will be together forever.
Despite revealing her separation from Will Smith, the actress stated again, during an episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show’, that her marriage remains intact. “We will stay together forever,” Jada said.
“I made a promise that there would never be a reason for us to get divorced. We will work on anything. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise. I’m going to be by her side,” she said in October in her interview with Today.
