Jada Pinkett Smith has broken her silence on the Oscars blowout that rocked showbiz when she was mocked for being bald.
The American actress has addressed Chris Rock’s controversial comment at the Oscars following her husband Will Smith’s unexpected outburst on stage.
Breaking her silence for the first time, Jade opened up during an episode of the Red Table Talk podcast in which she seemed calm and understanding of the situation.
The popular podcast sees Jada with her daughter Willow and her mother Adrienne Banfield-Norris, discussing a wide variety of topics.
Lifting the lid on her first-hand experience of the devastating effects of alopecia, Jada spoke candidly about the world-shaking incident between her husband and Chris Rock.
Speaking during the episode, Jada said: “This is a really important ‘red table talk’ about alopecia.

“Given what I’ve been through with my health and what happened to me at the Oscars, thousands of people have contacted me with their stories.”
He went on to recall the event, writing, “Now, on to Oscar night… my deepest hope is that these two smart and capable men have a chance to heal, talk about this and reconcile.

Earlier this year in March, during the coveted Oscars, host and comedian Chris Rock made a sarcastic quip about the movie GI Jane getting a sequel starring Jada.
The sarcastic taunt referenced Jada’s baldness and GI Jane actress Demi Moore, who shaved her locks into a buzz cut to play the role in the ’90s.
“Jada, I can’t wait for GI Jane 2,” Chris said.
With her husband Will Smith by her side, Jada rolled her eyes and was taken aback, causing Will to jump out of his seat and slap Chris across the face.
He also raged: “Keep my wife’s name out of your fucking mouth.”
The stunning star first opened up about his alopecia on an episode of the Red Table Talk podcast in 2018, before shaving his head in 2021.

After Will’s outburst that night, he took the stage and said, “I’m called in my life to love people and protect people and be a river to my people.
“I know, to do what we do, we have to be able to take abuse. You have to be able to make people talk crazy about you. In this business, you have to be able to make people disrespect you.” You have to smile and pretend that’s okay.”
