In a few weeks, Jacques Dutronc will celebrate his 79th birthday. And if the septuagenarian is no longer in Olympic form, that did not prevent him from returning to the stage. With his son Thomas, the singer has indeed started a concert tour in France.
On this occasion, the father-son duo confided in November in an interview with the Journal du Dimanche. Jacques Dutronc was then revealed to have had a herniated disc. “A record problem is normal for a singer!” had then launched his son to joke about the situation. The singer also explained that he had been affected by osteoarthritis and admitted to having recently had back surgery. “Like everyone else since it’s the evil of the century”.
Faced with these various health concerns, Jacques Dutronc decided to stop his alcohol consumption and focus on Cohiba and “sipping organic chicory”. A radical stop caused by the death of his lifelong friend Johnny Hallyday who had already pushed him to stop drinking. “It scared him very much. Johnny’s death is the loss of a childhood friend he has always known. He suddenly became aware of the fragility of life, he said to himself that he could well be the next one… especially since it’s Eddy Mitchell who sings “And if there’s only one left, I’ll be the one”. If this prophecy is correct, the next Old Scoundrel to disappear is Jacques.” said biographer Frédéric Quinonero.
This Monday April 11, 2022, on the eve of the first concert of their tour, Jacques Dutronc confided in the Parisian during rehearsals. “You saw, I have a stool. But the walker is not far.” he launched to the journalists, once again making fun of his state of health.
