Jacob Une Larsson: Returning to Djurgården and Building a Life in Stockholm

Before last season, Jacob Une Larsson was loaned from Djurgården to Greek side Panetolikos, for a year and a half. This summer, the centre-back returned to the blue-striped team, where he once again became a starting player.

However, Une Larsson describes her time since the return as “choppy”.

– I got into it last summer and then it started with a really sour outing in Europe. And once I got up from that, I got that illness, which chopped it up a bit. So I hope I can be healthy and feel strong for the last four games. So that we can finish nicely, says the 29-year-old.

After the loan in Greece ended, Une Larsson was open that he would like to continue his career abroad, but that Djurgården was a good alternative as well. He remained in the Allsvenskan top club.

– Nothing appeared good enough for either me or Djurgården. And in the end, I just feel like I want to know a little bit about where I’m going to be somewhere. It feels great to be in Stockholm and Djurgården now and to build my life here again. It feels very nice.

He has a contract with Djurgården over 2024 and sees himself in the blue-striped shirt next year as well.

– You should never say never, but it has been quite nice to land in Stockholm now, and should I then pack everything up and tear it up again this winter? I don’t know if it attracts that much, so it is strongly leaning towards me being here in 2024.

Une Larsson also explains that the time abroad gave him perspective, even if it also gave him a taste of life outside Sweden’s borders.

– A lot of people in an association like Djurgården are extremely professional and you get as much free or served, so that you can prepare as well as possible. I appreciate that very much.

– I don’t take it for granted in the same way now. I appreciate it a little more and realize that: “Damn, not everyone has it this good”.
