At 82, after being a victim of Covid-19, Jacky Baroche, the emblematic president of the Free Municipality of the village of Saint-Brice, takes back his pilgrim’s staff. His wish: “to recreate social ties in the neighborhood, at a time when individualism is king”.
A project that he plans to unveil more fully during the general assembly of the association, if it can take place in view of the health context, in early February.
“The first step is to start by asking the inhabitants of the neighborhood to find out if they would be interested”, analyzes Jacky Baroche. For this, he relies on several residents of the district, responsible for relaying his message. More specifically on “Momo, the neighborhood grocery store manager, at 39, rue Saint-Brice. He is convinced that it is a necessity. Everyone knows him in the neighborhood, and since he does a lot of home deliveries, on foot, communication is easy. “
Beyond this first objective, Jacky Baroche has an idea behind his head: “My wish, in parallel with the town hall of Chartres and the bishopric, is to reopen the Saint-Brice church and to recreate a small parish. . I met Mgr Philippe Christory, the bishop of Chartres, who, like his predecessor, Mgr Pansard, was interested in this idea. Previously, I had of course spoken about it with Jean-Pierre Gorges, the mayor of Chartres, since the City owns the church. It is he who must now make the decision. “
For Cédric Hounsou, teacher in Nogent-le-Rotrou, 2022 will be “the year of citizen energies”
“It deserves to be tried”
“Potentially, it can work,” says Jacky Baroche. “I think it would be hyperfederative. We can recreate a link through that. The church could be reopened to celebrate religious services, of course. But we could also make it a mixed place, as we did at one time, which could also host exhibitions, concerts, etc. I would like to be able to recreate this for the time that I have left to live. Me, I really believe in it and I think it deserves to be tried. We have to prepare for the future if we want there to be continuity. ”
