Los Angeles (USA) Neverland Ranch, which once served as the home of the late pop singer Michael Jackson, has found a new owner. Billionaire Ronald Burkle bought it for $ 22 million (CZK 473 million), the AP agency reported.

The entire property, with an area of more than ten square kilometers, is located near Santa Barbara, California, and in addition to the main six-room house, it also includes a dance studio, water park, cinema for 50 people, a lake and a tennis court. Five years ago, an investment firm wanted $ 100 million for it, but since then it has cut its sales offer several times.
Ron Burkle, who bought the property, was one of Michael Jackson’s business advisers. He is a well-known investor in supermarkets and a co-founder of the Yucaipa investment group.
In 2003, the ranch was searched on allegations that Jackson had abused children there. In 2005, the singer was acquitted; he died four years later after a sedative overdose. According to the media, it was the connection between the ranch and the accusation of child abuse that was one of the main reasons why the price of real estate fell so sharply.
The ranch, named after a fictional island from Peter Pan’s storybook, on which children never grow up, has also lost a number of attractions that used to create Jackson’s fairytale world. Gone is the zoo, amusement park or train station, for example, the Daily Mail reported.
