This article was written by Sultan Al-Qahtani – Jackery is showcasing its Explorer system, or rooftop tent solar generator, at CES 2024.
The product, designed to land on the ground, combines a car-mounted tent with retractable solar panels and an external power source.
The Explorer System’s 1,000-watt solar panels are expected to generate 4 to 5 kilowatt-hours of energy per day in the United States.
This is stored in a companion 1.26 kWh E1000 Plus power station, with a maximum AC output of 2000 watts.
The capacity allows you to run a 60-watt mini-fridge for 45 hours or a 900-watt oven for about an hour. You can also upgrade to 6 kWh capacity with LFP expansion batteries.
In addition to solar charging, the E1000 Plus supports car charging, with a full charge taking about seven hours, or you can charge the device to 100% via a wall socket in less than two hours.
The tent measures approximately 2,100 x 13,000 x 1,700 mm (~82.7 x 511.8 x 66.9 inches), and has a memory foam mattress, dimmable color lighting, insulation, and waterproof fabric to protect you from the elements.
The product is also said to work at temperatures as low as -43°C (~-45°F) and at altitudes up to 5,000 meters (~16,400 feet).
