Bam Margera, the former MTV star and Jackass alum, recently turned himself in to Pennsylvania State Police after being accused of attacking his brother, Jesse, during a domestic disturbance at his home in Philadelphia. Margera pleaded not guilty and was charged with simple assault, harassment, and four counts of terroristic threats. His lawyer confirmed that the rumors circulating about his client’s behavior were false and that Margera is in good health and spirits. Court records show that he was released on $50,000 unsecured bail and cannot have any contact with his brother, father, or two other individuals who were present at the time of the altercation. He must also stay away from the property where the incident occurred.
Margera’s brother alleges that he was punched in the eye, nose, and ear after Margera kicked in his locked bedroom door. He also claims to have found a threatening handwritten note signed “Bam.” Margera fled into the woods before the police arrived, but eventually turned himself in to face the charges.
Margera rose to fame on MTV’s Jackass, a series featuring stunts and pranks carried out by Johnny Knoxville and his friends. He also starred in the reality series Viva La Bam. However, his relationship with the franchise became strained after he was fired during the production of the fourth Jackass movie for refusing to go to rehab, and he subsequently launched legal action against Paramount Pictures, Jackass director Jeff Tremaine, and co-creators Johnny Knoxville and Spike Jonze. Margera’s next court date is scheduled for May 25.
