The Jack Wilshere video that went viral

He knew how to be one of the great talents of English football, he was even called to be one of the best players of his generation in Europe, but Jack Wilshere had to retire prematurely due to injuries. However, the former Arsenal FC player is still capable of demonstrating his quality and a video of him has generated a stir on the internet.

Wilshere, who is currently 31 years old, announced his retirement in July last year after a last playing experience at Århus GF in the Danish first division. He has participated in an amateur soccer match on the initiative of the YouTube channel called ‘Shoot For Love’, which surprised a group of young people to demonstrate that “his class is permanent.”

In the images, Super Jack surprised the members of this informal party organized in London with his distinguished movements and touches. In the video you can see Wilshere dribbling, throwing blocks, turning to escape the marking and even scoring a goal.

“Seeing Wilshere play again, even if it’s just with amateur kids, really made my day,” one user commented. “It’s devastating what injuries did to Wilshere’s career, he was one of the best talents in Arsenal’s history,” added another.

Jack Wilshere made his debut in 2008 becoming the youngest Arsenal FC player to debut in the Premier League at 16 years and 256 days. He was very young but demonstrated very special qualities. In his 10-year career with the Gunners, he won two FA Cup titles, but his career was slowed by traumatic injuries.

He had to undergo surgeries on his ankle, knee and calf, which caused him to miss more than 100 games with the team led at the time by Arsene Wenger. “My first injury was the worst and I paid a lot for it. I went to see the specialist surgeon and he told me: he had never seen that. So they hired another guy, a specialist to do the surgery, and I didn’t know about it until a few years later. So I came back, it must have been about six years later, when I was 25, I went back to see the surgeon and he said, ‘oh, are you still playing?’” he told Ben Foster’s ‘The Fozcast’ podcast.

Beyond his physical difficulties, he stretched his career as far as he could. He later wore the shirts of Bournemouth and West Ham, in addition to being able to represent the English team at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and the 2016 Euro Cup.

The season before making the decision to retire, Wilshere expressed in an interview with The Athletic that he was going through his worst sporting moment because he could not find a team. “My children are already at an age where they understand things. Archie, who is 9 years old, loves soccer. He sometimes tells me: ‘Why doesn’t any team want you?’ Don’t know. The hardest thing is trying to explain it when they ask things like: ‘So why don’t you sign for a team in England?’ And I think: because no one loves me,” he said.

Currently, Wilshere works as a coach in the Arsenal Under-18 team, a club for which he played 197 games and is very loved by the fans.

“Honestly, I love it. It has brought back my deep love for football and, to be honest, I didn’t know I had lost it. When I came back here, and it may be because it’s Arsenal, I feel like people here really care about me, which is good. Obviously, I’m entering a different world. The corporate world, all the emails, but now I’m in a place where I’ve figured it out and structured my day better. I love training days,” Jack said in an interview with The Independent in April.
