Jack Sock receives the final wild card to play in Washington

Former world number 8 Jack Sock received the final wild card for the Citi Open in Washington. The 28-year-old Sock is about to make his seventh main draw appearance in Washington. Socks achieved his best result in Washington in 2017 when he reached the semifinals.

Sock last played at the Atlanta Open this week, where he lost to fellow countryman John Isner in the round of 16. “We all know that Jack is an incredible talent. Much like my last opponent in the first round, he had a lot of bad luck with injuries, so he’s working his way up again,” Isner said in an interview in front of Platz according to the ATP website.

“Everyone knows that he is much better than his current ranking. It’s good to have him back because of course the fans love to watch him play. It’s just a shame that he and I had to play in the round of 16 here.

“But for me, I’m very, very happy with the way I played tonight. I thought I played brilliantly. Hopefully I can continue.”

Sock wants to return to its old form

Sock, now number 201 in the world, spoke earlier this week about wanting to return to his old form.

“We sat down after I came back from my thumb surgery and then of course we definitely sat down with COVID-19 – [mein Trainer, Alex Bogomolov], my wife, everyone – and said, if we do this, the goal is to win tournaments and be one of the best players in the world, ”Sock told the ATP website.

“If not, if that doesn’t happen, then I’ve done a lot in this sport and I’m proud of it. But there’s not much point in wasting time if you’re not ready to look back for it. “My goal is definitely to do everything in my power to be as good as possible again in individual cases and then see what happens … I am happy to show everyone where I am and that I am back and ready to go. ”
