After twelve seasons in Swedish hockey, Jack Connolly, 34, now chooses to leave the SHL.
The 34-year-old breaks the contract with Luleå and retires from ice hockey.
– I have to re-prioritize for the sake of my family, he says NSD.
Jack Connolly came to Färjestad in 2012 and has since remained in Sweden for twelve years.
The poodle-wise American has spent the last six seasons in Luleå.
And actually the idea was that there would be one more.
Because the center has one year left on the contract with Norrbottningar, but will not fulfill its agreement.

“Feeling done”
That’s what he tells NSD.
– It is perhaps good that everyone else gets to know in this way. I don’t want there to be any speculation that I have broken the contract to play elsewhere, or that they have fired me. Because it’s not like that. This is my decision and I will put the skates on the shelf. I will miss hockey, but I have had a good career and I feel finished, he says the newspaper.
The family has partly lived elsewhere and commuted between the USA and Luleå during his time at the club. Something that has been difficult for the 34-year-old to handle.
– I love everything about this club and the city. Playing here has been great, and I will really miss everyone, but I have to re-prioritize for the sake of my family.
This season there have been 15 points in 46 games.
