Jabodebek LRT operation was delayed, why yes?

The people of Jakarta and its surroundings need to be more patient in using the new means of transport, the Jabodebek LRT. This is because the Jabodebek LRT will only operate in June 2023.

The goal of this operation was delayed for a long time from the beginning. Initially, the Jabodebek LRT was supposed to be operational in 2019.

The operation of the Jabodebek LRT in June 2023 after the coordination of various parties. This was announced by the president, director of PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk Entus Asnawi Mukhson, during a hearing with Commission XI, Jakarta, on Tuesday (13/9/2022).

“From the results of our discussions with related parties, it is hoped that operations will begin in June next year,” Entus said.

Entus stated that physically the Jabodebek LRT project is almost complete. However, as this LRT is used without a driver, its safety must be ensured.

“To be sure, since this is without a driver, without a driver to ensure that safety is appropriate, there are additions from various parts so that safety is met. Finally, what we are working on is a system built by Siemens that it is commonly used. Then from our SOE partners there is LEN, “he explained.

He said the Ministry of Transport (Kemenhub) and PT KAI (Persero) were also conducting a study on the Jabodebek LRT system. Hence, it takes a long time for the operation.

“As the operator, KAI also holds a review of this system and the Ministry of Transport for Safety also holds a review so that the preparation of the integration of this system takes more time,” he explained.
