Netflix’s Avatar Hit With New Showrunner
Netflix’s Popular Series to Receive New Leadership
Variety reports that Jabbar Raisani (Lost in Space) and Christine Boylan (Poker Face) are set to executive produce the next two seasons of Netflix’s hit series, Avatar, following the departure of former showrunner Albert Kim. Although Netflix has not yet made an official statement regarding this change in leadership, sources indicate that Kim will be joining Disney Plus, dedicating his efforts to executive producing the streamer’s highly anticipated new series, Percy Jackson and the Olympians, in addition to developing other exciting projects.
Continuing the Legacy
Kim took the reins as the showrunner for Avatar in 2020, stepping in after the unexpected departure of Nickelodeon’s original Avatar series co-creators, Bryan Konietzko and Michael Dante DiMartino, due to creative differences. Konietzko and DiMartino have since returned to Nickelodeon through their production banner, Avatar Studios, actively generating new captivating stories within the Avatar universe.
A Fresh Direction
Raisani and Boylan, recognized for their remarkable contributions to the television industry, are anticipated to deliver their creative prowess to Avatar. Fans are eager to witness the potential transformative effects that the new leadership will have on the beloved series. Particularly, with regard to the show’s relatively uncertain first season, the appointment of Raisani and Boylan brings hope for improvements and captivating storylines.
