When the presenter and former member of parliament Jaana Pelkonen was a young woman in her twenties, she didn’t know how to draw boundaries when it came to publicity and willingly answered journalists’ questions about her boyfriend, Pelkonen says in an interview with Anna magazine.
– When the reporters asked about the boyfriend, I introduced him. I didn’t think that if I voluntarily told about my relationship, the breakup would also be public information, Pelkonen says in Anna’s interview.

Since then, he learned his lesson.
– Since then, I have set clear boundaries for the public. I haven’t even posed with my current husband at Linna’s party – there are only pictures of us together in the line shaking hands – and I haven’t told the name of our child in the media, she continues in the same interview.
In the interview with Anna, Pelkonen also says that even though he is a public figure, he feels that he is still an ordinary person. He also admits that he needs solitude and silence to counterbalance his public work.
Pelkonen has been in the public eye for almost 30 years. For 12 years, he was a member of parliament of the coalition. In an interview with Iltalehti in the spring of 2024, Pelkonen said that his life largely revolves around families with children and running jobs.
– The best thing in my life is that I get to be a mother, she told Iltalehte.
– I am our 7-year-old daughter’s ski coach and futs mutt. It’s wonderful when I can still take our daughter to activities, when a little hand grabs mine, he described.
