A cruel disillusion

For 75 minutes, we had a Bordeaux player in the first half then compact for 30 minutes until this “stupid” penalty which prevents us from validating a “real” match for our team.

There are sometimes defeats which can be foundational (as long as the negative outcome does not weigh too much on the heads). Bordeaux did not have the expected result but Vladimir Petkovic may have found his 11 or so.

In the animation, first of all, the two doublets Ricardo Mangas – Alberth Elis and Timothée Pembélé – Javairô Dilrosun were really interesting offensively.

Doubles, speed, crosses, we (especially in the first half) saw a tonic team in recovery, in action and not in reaction.

In the block (for 75 minutes), Bordeaux conceded few chances, a compact and hardworking team.

The block cracked with the fatigue of some players. Very understandable after all because Timothée Pembélé, Abdel Médioub, Javairô Dilrosun, Otávio et Fransergio have played little in recent weeks and they naturally ran out of kerosene at the end of the game.

Without 9 cases of Covid, Enock Kwateng and Stian Gregersen could have replaced Timothée Pembélé and Abdel Médioub “Charred”. Likewise, Tom Lacoux would have come to replace Fransergio more and more ghostly in the second part of the meeting (we had Mehdi Zerkane most Vladimir Petkovic decidedly not counting on him at all).

Regrets all the same

Coaching that was too late. Faced with the fatigue felt from the 60th, we would have liked Vladimir Petkovic react a little faster.

As always, in the last 10 minutes, he tries impossible operations with the entry of 2 or 3 attackers but all this seems to lack control.

The Abdel Médioub discovery

Even if he suffered physically at the end of the game (logical since he hardly ever plays), he had a first period of high flight.

Comfortable in the air, defending always standing, he is always calm and clean in the revival whatever the pressure of the opponent. With fatigue, in the second half, he was less precise and ended up abusing the long game but his complementarity with Laurent Koscielny was really promising for… 75 minutes.

With Stian Gregersen, more physical, it could be used in a 3 defense combining rigor and elegance.

A catastrophic assessment on the first phase

3 wins in 19 games, 43 goals conceded, a backlash that we are still waiting for. Many questions about a coach and a team who nevertheless have experienced players and talented young people.

We could see, because (or thanks) to the Covid that some players deserved better than their playing time (Timothée Pembélé, Abdel Médioub, Javairô Dilrosun), observation already made with Tom Lacoux, Gideon Mensah Where Samuel Kalu in the past.

The patterns and the men have never stopped changing and no typical team is born. How then to have a coherent game project?

Players like Mehdi Zerkane, Josh Maja, Dilane Bakwa, Amadou Traoré can already go elsewhere because Covid or not, we do not count on them without the current holders deserving a place week after week in the group.

Be careful, many players on loan (who may have their heads elsewhere from March) and the situation could quickly become tense because with 17 points in 19 games, it will take at least 7 more on the return phase to arrive at 42 points (on average) necessary to save his skin in Ligue 1.

If the coach does not follow the positive results in January, it will absolutely be necessary to take another direction to try to save the ship from the sinking.

On what we saw on Wednesday we can be confident but after the second day in Marseille, we had the feeling that the season could be good and 3 months later… no certainty.

Let’s forget, as soon as possible, this year 2021 and take our revenge in 2022. The state of mind and the game proposed during the 2/3 of the meeting yesterday are elements and the leitmotif for a lasting renewal and where the standing of the club , trampled too easily for many years, must again be respected.

As a Christmas present and for the New Year, we wish more than the 10 starved victories of 2021 and the new-found pride when we speak of our club.

Value and responsibility! Go Bordeaux!

Tops

Alberth Elis – 8/10 – the Honduran jewel

Another 2 goals and with each catch, he brings a madness that we missed for so long. THE “Rookie” of the beginning of the Lopez era. A little less well in the second half like the whole of the team but still this boost at the end of the game which shows that he still had gas.

Yacine Adli8/10 – indispensable

When it is at this level, how to do without it? In a free position in the middle of the field, he splashed the meeting with his class to the 4 corners of the field. An XXL performance which further explains his disappointment at the end of the game. He must be wondering what he still does in this team, unfortunately he deserves better. Hoping that he will still be Bordeaux in January 2022.

The Flops

Ricardo Mangas placeholder image4/10 – an amateur’s fault

Rather comfortable on his left side throughout the game, especially during good doublings with Alberth Elis, he spoiled his meeting with a fault in the penalty area. When he is passed by the Lille striker, he must give up the fight and avoid putting his arm on his opponent. The meeting changes at this time.

Fransergio5/10 – Better … but …

More constant and at ease in the middle of the field, he unfortunately disappeared when the Bordelais lost their footing. He came to Bordeaux precisely to bring his experience and when he should be the most visible, he disappeared.
