Ivo Siromahov’s new book “The Singer Takes Power” has been released. The writer is a guest on bTV to share the current topics in his novel.
“Politics is show business for the ugly,” he quoted Bill Miller in his book. According to him, all people look primarily at the appearance of candidates for political posts. He reminded how much noise was raised in the presidential election due to the choice of eyeglass frames for one of the candidates. According to him, the dance of politics with show business has never gone out of style.
“After all, politics is a spectacle,” he explained. “And you see how it is all over the world – this wave started from Berlusconi, then Donald Trump, Boris Johnson… There are people who are more into the entertainment genre than politics.”
His novel is about a pop-folk singer, whose career is coming to an end, who decides to run for parliament. It managed to gather a majority in parliament and set itself the task of fixing Bulgaria in an unconventional way.
One of the problems of Bulgarian society is that people always expect someone to “fix” them or rely on a higher power to show them the way. Ivo Siromahov mentioned a study that shows that 75% of people believe in Grandma Vanga’s predictions.
