Zlatá Slavica’s beautiful voice and the charm of her personality literally characterize Iveta Bartošová. Despite the last years of her life, when she fell to the bottom, from which she could no longer bounce back, we still remember her as a great singer. But Iveta Bartošová also tried it on film. She played in several films, but her life role will forever remain the role of Countess Olivia in the film Vampire Wedding.
In this film, Iveta Bartošová starred alongside ace actors such as Viktor Preiss, Petr Nárožný or Luděk Kopřiva. The story takes place in Prague in the 18th century and depicts it as a dark and mysterious city in which a vampire count lives with his wife. But the countess falls in love with a young Englishman who spends several nights in Prague. Their shared love pits them against the entire vampire family, and they must flee to live together despite adversity.
Iveta’s acting partner in Vampire Wedding was portrayed by Rudolf Hrušínský, the youngest of the famous acting clan. They really fit together on screen. And although the film is a light parody of vampire films, Iveta took on her role with the greatest grace.
But it was already here that speculation began about the fact that things did not just sparkle between Iveta Bartošová and Rudolf Hrušínský the youngest on the screen. As they both later admitted, they had a short romance together, but it quickly ended. But Iveta’s partner Ladislav Štaidl found out about it later and demonstratively broke up with Iveta. However, their separation did not last long.
When the day of the long-awaited premiere of the film Wedding of the Vampires came, Ladislav Štaidl forbade Iveta to attend it. Even the director of the film Jaromír Soukup admitted this in the new documentary cycle about the life of Iveta Bartošová Malo me znaše. Iveta thus never saw her life role on screen.
All this took place only a few months after Iveta Bartošová became pregnant for the first time, but she let Ladislav Štaidl talk her into having an abortion. This caused her serious health complications as she was already in her fourth month at the time of the miscarriage.
It was at this time that Iveta’s problems began and her career began to be accompanied by the first scandals. After an affair with Rudolf Hrušínský, she attempted suicide. Then came the alleged kidnapping by Roman Tříska, which was supposed to cost Shtaidl 10 million crowns. However, the court ruled in favor of Roman Třísko and decided that there was no kidnapping and that Iveta left with him voluntarily.
At the time, however, no one knew that the last chapter of the life of a great singer and fragile soul had begun to be written, which then began to fall into an ever-widening abyss from which there was no return.
