Is ivermectin an effective drug against Covid-19?
Ivermectin is a medicine for human and veterinary use which is used against parasites. Since the appearance of Covid-19, the scientific community has been trying to find a cure. Could ivermectin be an effective drug against Covid-19?
The effectiveness of this drug on humans has still not been demonstrated to date. There is still not sufficient scientific evidence. In vitro tests have shown interesting results. However, they cannot be transferred to humans, due to drug concentrations.
In addition, the majority of the work was carried out in non-Western countries such as Egypt, Bangladesh, Lebanon, Mexico, Turkey or even Iran and India. Thus, the authors fail to submit their results to major English or American scientific journals. As a result, the works remain unvalidated preprints.

Trials that are not conclusive enough to prove the drug’s effectiveness
For its part, Unitaid is the international organization for purchasing medicines for poor countries. The organization is monitoring each potential treatment for the virus. Indeed, she believes that there are “promising preliminary data” for ivermectin. However, one “must wait for the results of other trials” before deciding on the effectiveness of the drug.
Also, Kim Woo-joo, professor in the infectious disease department at Korea University Hospital in Seoul, explains: “If you want to be 100% sure that a drug works, you need randomized controlled trial results. larger in scale ”than what is currently available.
In the United States, ivermectin is strongly defended by the doctors of the “Front Line Covid-19 Critical Care Alliance” group. In front of a commission of the American Senate, Dr. Pierre Kory went to affirm that the drug is effective.
